So here we are with a new internet business and no experience.... Can we learn how to run it?

I guess for us, after all the research we have done, we realized there was no magic send money... get rich button! We realize that you don't get something for nothing, But by arming ourselves with the right tools we will accomplish our goals much quicker. Kinda like the difference between trying to light a fire by rubbing sticks together or using a lighter and and some gasoline. Now it is time to learn the tools and the right way to apply them to our task.

We set up our payment options, bought a domain name, arranged for hosting, e-mails, auto responders, and capture pages. That took us about two days (remember we are starting out as total newbies) I'm sure that it could be done in a couple hours now that I have gone through it.

OK we have our very own site.. woohoo!

Hmmmm Build it and they will come doesn't seem to be working yet. Now its advertising and marketing. Let's face it, no one will come if they can't find it!

This is where we are at now, we need to get the word out. So time for more reading and studying.

In the last week I have learned a little about SEO (search engine optimization) keywords (the magic words that help the search engines find you), adwords (the little ads you pay for people to find you), adsense (the ads by google like the ones at the bottom of this page.. go ahead click on them... every click earns us money!), analytics (report you get free from google that helps you understand who is looking at your site and where they are coming from). And I decided to create this blog for a couple of reasons. If we are going to become truly successful, it will only be by helping others be successful. Also I hope to create interest in our business and to show others that we are indeed willing to help every step of the way. If we can do it.. we can teach it.

In all my reading I have not yet come across a How to Start Your Internet Business... for Dummies site. It seems they generally assume I have a working knowledge of the basics.. well I didn't, but I do know how to search and read and learn.

I hope that by keeping a record, we can help others who like us are ready to take that giant leap into the wide, wide, world of internet business to claim a piece of the pie.

We are also evaluating some of the traffic sites, As we try them, I will let you know which (if any) actually work.

What we have done in the past week is create a google account and made some ads. We are also advertising on as many free classified sites as we can. (We found a list of 300 so we are working our way down them) We are working on a couple of videos to go out on youtube (got the kids helping with that) And are handpicking a couple of traffic retailers. (sites that offer to send you X amount of traffic for X amount of dollars)

I should also mention that one reason we chose LGNrevoultion was the price. We knew that we would need money for advertising and domain and hosting after we signed up to any business. So we picked our business based on what we could afford, yet had a decent pay-out for the effort we were going to put into it.

The exciting thing now is that LGNrevolution has just announced they are adding a $998 level, and any of us who joined at the $500 level before Oct. 15 will get a free upgrade! Woot! Thats like they handed us $498 for just being in at the right time. So now we are even more excited and determined to work it!

Who We Are

We both come from trades...

I am a painter with many years of experience in commercial and residential painting. The idea of starting our own internet business couldn't of come at a better time for me as I was tired of working so hard and having little energy left for my family. Not to mention the long hours, or unpredictable days or the down time which always seems to come around xmas.

Geordie is a sprinkler fitter and has many years experience in related trades. He also is ready for a more relaxed life, one where he will have more energy and time to spend romancing me... (hehe).

Really, I think he is an amazing man -the sooner we get making enough money for him to stay home with me- the better!

We are fun-loving and want to enjoy the time we have together. So we made some sacrifices and set some goals. Now watch out cause here we come!

Now we just have some learning to do... heh, ok we have a lot of learning to do!

The beginning

A couple weeks ago my partner came to me with an idea. An idea he felt had the power to change our lives. He wanted to start an internet business. If others can do it, why can't we?

At first I was skeptical, so we started researching. We checked out so many business opportunities I lost count. We looked at cash gifting, mlm, network marketing, affiliate memberships, and more.

After a while I began to catch the bug too, it became a contest to see who could find the best opportunity to make the leap with! We made a shortlist, we ended up picking one that wasn't to expensive with a compensation plan we liked. And we did it... we made the plunge.
